The Alpha Prototype of My Umbrella Bag

This is a vertical view of my umbrella bag prototype. I decided to let go of the velcro straps that were in my initial design concepts because streamlining the bag was a better idea. It facilitates faster pulling out and putting in of the umbrella. The drawstring also turned out to be an important feature during the concept tests. Everyone liked the idea of the drawstring. The drawstring also has big enough loops to allow the bag to be carried by hand, thus eliminating the need for any other type of hook or handle. My attempt at making the bag stylish was using contrasting colors for the lining and pocket. :-)
This view of the alpha prototype shows the dual purpose of the bag: a way to carry loose change, train tickets, some bills and cards together with the umbrella. The pocket on the umbrella is also made of waterproof material, keeping items dry. The pocket is secured by velcro on the flap and the front of the pocket.
The umbrella bag's size fits different portable umbrellas without further need of velcro straps, as shown above.
